SATTA Latest News

Minutes of General Assembly 2024, 25th of June 2024

This year’s General Assembly of SATTA took place at the Gasthof Sternen in Wangen on the 25th of June. SATTA’s Executive Board welcomed 13 members who attentively followed the presentation. In his presentation, Roger Suter highlighted the key activities and strategic initiatives of the Swiss Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel Association (SATTA). The presentation covered various workshops, meetings, and surveys that are crucial for shaping the future of SATTA and addressing current challenges within the ATSEP community.

SATTA Executive Board Member Workshop

One of the central activities discussed was the SATTA Executive Board (EB) member workshop. This workshop focuses on discussing the future direction of SATTA and assigning tasks to board members. A prominent topic during these discussions is cyber security, a critical aspect of ATSEP activities.

  • Future of SATTA: Strategic planning and vision for the organization.
  • Assigning Dossiers: Delegating specific tasks and responsibilities to board members.
  • Cyber Security Survey: Conducting surveys to assess and improve cyber security measures within ATSEP operations.
Key Meetings and Conferences

DACH Meeting in Locarno: A significant ATSEP group meeting with colleagues from Germany and Austria to discuss regional collaboration and best practices.

IFATSEA ERM in Bucharest and GA in Buenos Aires: Participation in these international meetings to exchange knowledge and discuss new regulations impacting ATSEP.

  • Best Practice Working Group: Establishing a group to identify and promote best practices.
  • Impact of New Regulations: Evaluating how new regulations affect ATSEP activities and preparing to adapt.
Social and Strategic Events

SATTA Social Event: Members gathered at the clock tower in Lucerne to foster camaraderie and strengthen the community.

Stratcom Meetings: Bi-annual meetings where Skyguide explains its future strategy. These sessions are crucial for understanding the broader strategic landscape and how SATTA can align with Skyguide’s plans.

Trade Union Meeting (TUM): A key topic was “System Robustness,” emphasizing the importance of Technical Incident Reports (TIRs) as valuable feedback to improve system robustness. Despite Skyguide’s openness to listen, there is a noted lack of corrective actions.

LOCOM Meetings: Operational personnel expressed the need for more night work on critical systems, a point of contention with Skyguide’s cost-cutting principles.

ATSEP Basic Training

For years, SATTA has been integral to the ATSEP basic training, highlighting the critical role of ATSEPs and encouraging new memberships. This initiative will continue to be a focus in 2024.

Focus Areas for 2024

  • Participation in ATSEP Basic Training: To encourage new memberships and ensure the continuity of skilled professionals.
  • Social Events: Including the Plattenberg Engi (Knabenschiessen Nachmittag) to build community spirit.
  • Meetings with BAZL: To explain and emphasize the role of ATSEPs.
  • Exchanges with EB Members: Collaborating with Skyguide’s S-Department.
  • IFATSEA ERM 2025: Organizing and conducting the event jointly with GDF.
Conclusion

SATTA is actively addressing current challenges and preparing for the future through strategic initiatives and active engagement with members and stakeholders. From workshops and surveys to social events and international meetings, SATTA is committed to enhancing the role and impact of ATSEPs, ensuring robust systems, and fostering a strong, supportive community.
